Grasping for the Wind

Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Author List

Though SF Signal and Locus both maintain excellent lists of author websites and blogs, I thought it might be helpful to create a list that highlights both websites and blogs (as authors often have both) and that also provided a useful and easy way for bloggers to recreate the list on their own site. (You’ll find a copy/paste box at the bottom of the list.)

WHO CAN SUBMIT TO THE LIST?
Well, just about anyone who has been published in any format save self-publishing. By this I mean that you will need to have neither paid to have your book published, nor be the only book published by your small press. (Feel free to do a shout out in the comments though) Otherwise, all are welcome.

And feel free to add your favorite author to the list. An email is required for verification purposes, but you can just use your own instead of the author’s.

I do reserve the right to reject a submission. This is only likely to happen if I cannot access your site or blog, you have inappropriate material on it, or you are self-published. (This is not because I dislike self-published works, it just keeps the list to a manageable size. I have plans in the works to do one dedicated to self-publishing.)

HOW OF OFTEN DO YOU UPDATE?
Initially, I will update this list twice a day, decreasing the frequency as we have a drop off in submissions.

HOW DO I SUBMIT?
Use the form below. I have included a section to list the genres/subgenres in which you write, which will allow me to reorganize the list into a new list that organizes the sites by genre. Feel free to list more than one subgenre, but please don’t list all of them (unless you have written in all of them). And feel free to qualify your answer. If you are unsure what to put, this link has a good listing of the various subgenres.

Also, if you are a blogger with a pre-existing list, feel free to submit it to editor AT graspingforthewind DOT com, and I will add any new authors not already on the list.

If you have any questions, just put it in the comments below.

  • John McCarthy
Jack Vance, Jeff VanderMeer and John Varley would have a hard time listing here.
You seem to be missing the letter "V."

  • I don't suppose twitter-sized fiction counts, does it? They do pay ($1.20 per story).

I'm still working on the short/long fiction thing :-)
